Apple
co-founder Steve Jobs has been medical leave for an undisclosed condition since January 17. While he is a pancreatic cancer survivor, this has not been disclosed as his medical condition for stepping down as CEO of Apple .

Apple has stated that Steve Jobs has been elected chairman, while Tim Cook has been elected CEO.

Steve Jobs wrote the following letter to the board of directors

CUPERTINO, Calif.–To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

MAC Gets a Virus?

Posted by admin on May 31, 2011 under MAC | Comments are off for this article

After days of silence Apple is now addressing the high-profile virus that is threatening to ruin the reputation of the virus free world of the Mac
operating system.

“In the coming days, Apple will deliver a Mac OS X software update that will automatically find and remove Mac Defender malware and its known variants,” the company stated. “The update will also help protect users by providing an explicit warning if they download this malware.”

The malware is called MacGuard, and will tell the user that their computer is infected with a virus. According to MacGuard the only way to remedy it is to enter their credit cards and other personal information.

Unlike the previous variants of this fake antivirus, no administrator’s password is required to install this program, and since any user with an administrator’s account can install software in the applications folder, a password is not needed. This makes unintentionally installing the malware extremely easy.

Apple has offered information as to how to prevent the malware from invading your computer, as well as how to remove it if it has already been installed. For more information visit Apple Support here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4650
